Prima Ballerina of the National Ballet of Cuba;
Prima ballerina of the Australian Queensland Ballet Theatre;
Double winner with two gold medals of the 6th and the 8th International Competitions of Ballet Dancers in Havana (Cuba);
Winner of the International Competition of Ballet Dancers in Varna with a special prize and a silver medal.
Ms. Piñera was born in the city of Havana, Cuba. Since her childhood she had been dreaming to become a ballerina, and her dream came true. Janela was acceded for education to the National Academy of Ballet in Havana under the leadership of legendary Alicia Alonso, and after successful graduation she joined the National Ballet of Cuba, where later she got the status of prima ballerina of the National Ballet of Cuba.
In 2017 she was invited as a ballerina to the Texas Ballet (USA), and since the beginning of 2019 she has also been the prima ballerina of Australian Queensland Ballet Theatre (Australia). She performs in the leading classical performances.

Kitri («Don Quixote»), Jeanne («Flames of Paris»), Sylphide («La Sylphide»), Odette-Odile («Swan Lake»), Cinderella («Cinderella»), Giselle («Giselle» – Queen Willis in the choreography of Ben Stevenson), Nikia («La Bayadere» in the choreography of Carlos Acosta), Aurora («The Sleeping Beauty»), Marie («The Nutcracker»), Juliet («Romeo and Juliet»), Medora («Corsair»), Coppelia («Coppelia» in the choreography of Kenneth MacMillan), Carmen («Carmen» in the choreography of Alonso and Liam Scarlett), Frigia («Spartacus») as well as «Into the Night» in the choreography of Azary Plisetsky, «Serenade» in the choreography of Jerome Robbins, etc.
