The musical “Notre-Dame de Paris” will be for the first time performed in Russia in the original.
From April 11 to 16, 2018 you will have the unique opportunity to hear “Belle”, “Danse mon Esmeralda”, “Le temps des cathedrals” and other famous pieces in French.
The news about recreation of the original version of the musical broke out in February, 2016. The world premiere took place later in fall at the Palais des congrès de Paris. It was a roaring success. The show lasted for 8 weeks in a row, and all the tickets had been sold out months before the premiere.
“Notre-Dame de Paris” is very popular in Russia. About 1,500 actors came to the audition for the Russian version, which was an absolute record. The musical premiered in 2002. A decade later Moscow witnessed “Notre-Dame de Paris” musical in English.
Notre-Dame de Paris is a legendary French-Canadian musical by Riccardo Cocciante and Luc Plamondon based on Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre-Dame de Paris” (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame). The musical premiered in Paris in 1998. Soon after that more 12 million people from all over the world had the opportunity to see it too. During 20 years of the musical existence, more than 11 million CDs and DVDs have been sold and more than 4000 shows staged. The musical has been on in 9 languages including Russian.
“Notre-Dame de Paris” is one of the most popular musicals in the world. Its French version broke the Guinness World Record in the number of tickets sold during the first year of performance. The legendary “Belle” has been called the best XX century French song and the best song of the decade in Russia.
The original Notre-Dame musical uses about 200 tons of stage decorations that are transferred by seven mega trailers.
The long-awaited French version of the musical will be shown in Russia for the first time. World’s best actors and dancers were selected for the occasion. Esmeralda is portrayed by Lebanese Hiba Tawaji. The French “Voice” finalist has already released two albums that gained immediate fame. Quasimodo is portrayed by Angelo Del Vecchio who has played the role of Hunchback in the English and Italian versions before. Frollo is portrayed by legendary Daniel Lavoie. The Canadian was the first one to play this part. Gilles Maheu is the stage producer and choreographer of the new version of the musical.
